Debt Management: Top 10 Tips on Better Debt Management
  Major Advantages of Debt Settlement

Getting lost in the downward spiral of debt can be a burdensome event. Often, events from the past such as student loan payments that were ignored soon after college, overdue monthly bills, and increasing credit card use can be the events that sink our financial ship of security. Here are a few easy tips to follow to help you get on with the rest of your life without money being a worry.

1.Keep Track
Track all of your expenses for one month and compare the total to how much income you received that month. You might find that you have spent more money that what you have made, but you have made an important step in realizing where you can begin cutting out any unneeded expenses. It is very important to be honest with yourself during this process. Write down all of the expenses no matter how big or small, even credit and debit card purchases and payments.

2.Begin Saving
After keeping track of your expenses, you should see areas where you can begin cutting out excessive spending. Look into bundled services from your cable or internet provider to determine if they offer discounts for carrying all your services through their company. See if there are any habitual purchases that you can cut out of your budget such as a daily energy drink or cup of coffee.

3.Build Your Savings
Now that you have identified areas you can begin cutting spending from, use this extra money to begin or build a savings account. Worrying about high percentages or yields are not important at this point, focus on depositing that extra $30 each month from not getting your daily cup of coffee on the run when you could bring it from home. Bundling your home services could save you $50 each month or more. Little savings go a long way over time and saving this money, not spending it on other expenses, is an important key.

4.Long Term Tracking
These steps are important, but keeping track of your expenses on a long term or permanent basis can help keep your future spending in check and help you learn to budget with more knowledge in the future. Think of it as a case study of your own spending, the findings will benefit your future decisions in a very positive manner.

5.Comparison Shop
Look for better deals on your daily expenses from food and clothing to internet costs and energy companies. Check online sources for purchasing goods in bulk like paper towels and toilet paper or even dried food goods.

6.Set Goals
Think about any long term goal that you would like to accomplish with your savings. Are you wanting to save for a house or your child's college education? If you have long term goals such as these, then set your money away and only use it for that goal. If your goals are more short term, such as paying your bills off, then use the money in addition to what you have already been paying to help you achieve this goal quicker.

7.Ditch the Plastic
No longer using credit cards is a difficult task for most. If you have several that you use, begin cutting them up one at a time until you only have a few left. Begin getting rid of the final cards and you can see your impulse purchasing has been decreased. Use this money to either further pay off the credit card bills or place the difference in savings.

8.Look for Bargains
Shop sales and thrift stores for bargains on every day items. By this point, you should have a much better grip on how to save in your daily life and carrying it over to other aspects of your life should be easy. Continuing to find ways to save will allow you to either pay off your current debts faster or put the money away to help build your savings fund.

9.Support Yourself
Surround yourself with those people who support what your goals and efforts are for. Encouraging someone else in a better debt management lifestyle can give you the beginning of a great support network. If you set yourself up for success in the new lifestyle then it will be difficult to fail.

10.Enjoy Life
This is the best part of the entire process. Knowing that you are well on your way to being debt free and getting a better handle on your debt management is a great feeling. The process will take time, so don't expect immediate results, but in just a few short weeks you will be able to see an increase in your savings account and a decrease in your debt.
